The K and G Gang had a blast hangin’ at the Chip again this year and we have posted up lots of fun stuff here from our Sturgis experience as well.

Anyway, we’d be glad to have our K and G Gang hop over and support the Chip’s Photo Contest, so check it out when you get a chance. And one more thing: It would take a very keeeen eye to find it, but the K and G Cycles banner shows up in one of the photos posted in their contest. Can you find it??

If you think you found it; shoot an email over to anichols@kandgcycles.com with the picture attached and we’ll have a nice gift for you. Remember the banner is pretty tough to pick out, and if you need some help, go back to our Sturgis 2011 posts to find the example

Once Again, thanks for hangin’ with us here at www.vtwinmotorcycleblog.com, we think you’re… kinduvabigdeal!

Sue Rocked the Chip! Thanks to K and G Cycles

Category : Sturgis 2011

Hey Gang! As part of our effort to spread the Sturgis fun all around, we handed out a FREE pass to the Buffalo Chip festivities to a lucky winner!!

Right in the midst of the Rally, we sent out word on our Facebook page that a free armband was up for grabs! That message was passed on through our K and G Cycles friends and found it’s way to Sue Braden who was already rockin’ the Rally, but wasn’t in the Chip, where all the action is!

After she posted a nice message on our FB page, the plans went into motion to hook her up with her prize! As a coincidence of Biker Fate, her friends were parked right next to our hardworking owners George and Kyle!

Well as you’ve seen here on our blog, LOTS of goood times were had by all. Sue was no exception! Here are her words about her experience at the Legendary Buffalo Chip with her Free armband by K and G  Cycles!

Sue said, “I had a great time at the Buffalo Chip. I was able to hang out with many of my friends and the music was great. I couldn’t believe all the vendors and activites at the Chip. A person could spend their entire week at the Chip and never leave, because there is so much to enjoy. I was totally amazed by the set up of buffalo Chip and all the fun to be had. I loved it and will return.
Thanks for the awesome time!”

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

K and G Cycles showed up 1000 percent at the 2011 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally at the Legendary Buffalo Chip, making their best showing to date; engaging rally-goers, delivering an enormous grand prize to one lucky rider and sponsoring two phenomenal industry events.

K and G Cycles attracted rally goers to their enormous promotion with the K and G Cycles Girls, Devani and Amber, while owners, George and Kyle, passed out complimentary grease rags and engaged people at the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground.

Tom Messer, the lucky winner of the K and G Cycles Great Sturgis Vacation Giveaway, was awarded an extraordinarily generous prize on the main stage of the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground on Friday night, while Edgar Winter was giving an out-of-this-world performance.

His prize included, among other things: the EZ Camp Package for two at the Legendary Buffalo Chip; Fan VIP upgrades at the Chip; two passes to the VIP Media Tour of the Michael Lichter Exhibition and entrance to the VIP Party; two sets of jackets, chaps and gloves from River Road, two HJC full-face street helmets; $250 in merchandise from Hot Leathers; a photo-op with the beautiful K and G Street Team Girls and $1,000 cash. Messer was beyond excited to win this once-in-a-lifetime grand prize.

K and G Cycles was also proud to generously support two grand Sturgis and Legendary Buffalo Chip traditions: the annual Legends Ride and the Michael Lichter Motorcycles as Art exhibit “Slant Artist – An Eccentric View of Motorcycles and Art.”

George Marakas (K&G Cycle owner) says: “On Monday, the K and G Cycles team went to Deadwood, South Dakota to do the Legends Ride, kicking off the 71st annual Sturgis Rally with a Ride that Really Rocks! There, we were joined by an array of celebrities, builders, artists and riders from all corners of the world.

“This year’s Legends Ride raised significant funds for two worthy Black Hills charities, including the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame and the Black Hills Special Olympics, the Legends Ride has raised more than $150,000 in just three short years and has become the premier charity-celebrity event in motorcycling.”

This year’s 11th Annual Motorcycle as Art exhibition, “Slant Artist – An Eccentric View on Motorcycles and Art” focused on avant-garde artist, Jeff Decker.

In addition to Decker’s numerous beautiful bronze sculptures, there was a large, eclectic display of collectible motorcycles and wall art culled from his personal collection, friends and other artists filling the 7,000 square foot gallery. Decker also worked on a bronze sculpture in the exhibition space during the rally.

K and G Cycles Rocks the Legends Ride at Deadwood!

Category : MC News, Sturgis 2011

Hey K and G Gang! How would you like a star-studded day of wide open Black Hills riding?? Well that’s exactly what Team K and G found at this year’s Legends Ride! This is the fourth year for the charity event put on by the Legendary Buffalo Chip that draws a cast of fun famous characters. Check out the pics in our video where you can see Team K and G, rubbin’ elbows with the stars and mounting up for an unforgettable ride!

Here is the play-by-play of the Legends Ride experience as told by Kevin Plummer, our www.kandgcycles.com operations mananger!

Kevin relates that, “On Monday, George, Kyle, Amber, Devani, Tom, Steve and myself went to Deadwood, SD to do the Legends Ride to kick off the 71st annual Sturgis Rally with a Ride that Really Rocks!  There we were joined by an array of celebrities, builders, artists and riders from all corners of the world.   That would include Rod Woodruff, the owner and operator of the Legendary Buffalo Chip, Holly Hoffman from the TV show Surviror Nicaragua, Lorenzo Lamas the star of Falcon Crest & Renegade, Michael Lichter famed motorcycle photographer, Lori Visker who is currently Mrs. South Dakota, Rupert Boneham, Zach Ness who is a third generation custom bike builder and many, many more…

George and Kyle would be riding on a loaner bike donated by Victory, in light of their previous day’s mechanical issues! Our K and G Girls jumped aboard with our Great Sturgis Vacation Winners for double-trouble fun! Devani would be riding with Tom Messer and  Amber would be riding with Steve Hill the guest of Tom Messer.

The Legends Ride begins in the downtown of historic Deadwood, followed by a thrilling ride through the beautiful Black Hills and ending at the Legendary Buffalo Chip.  Once getting back to the Buffalo Chip, we enjoyed a private VIP reception, a special live auction and a headliner concert.

This years Legend ride raised significant funds for two worthy Black Hills charities, including the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame and Black Hills Special Olympics, the Legends Ride has raised more than $150,000 in just three short years and has become the premier charity-celebrity event in motorcycling.”

Thanks for the update, Kevin! Looks like the whole crew from Team K and G showed those celebs that we’re also… kinduvabigdeal!!

K and G Cycles – Sturgis Update – Sights, Scares and Sounds

Category : MC News, Sturgis 2011

Hey Gang! Welcome back to more K and G Cycles True Sturgis Adventures! Our story continues with a typical day at the Rally; including some sightseeing, a motorcycle breakdown and a wicked concert to top it all off. Just can’t beat a good day at STURGIS!

Kevin Plummer again relates the ins and outs of day for Team K and G. We hope you’re enjoying this ride-along with us. We happen to think that the readers of this blog are… kinduvabigdeal!!!

Kevin says, “Once again the morning fog was heavy inside the ‘ol noggin, and took some time to burn off! Once the brain was cleared, we got our gear in order and headed out on the road. Mount Rushmore was today’s destination just for the fun and sight-seeing.  The weather was beautiful!

Once we arrived; those big stone presidents sure did command our attention! After taking in the grand scale of the monument, we checked out the museum and learned how this wonder of the world was built. Along with the sights, it was just fun to hang out with Kyle and George without business discussions for a little while.

After bidding farewell to Mount Rushmore, we headed back to the Buffalo Chip.  With only 10 miles to get back to K and G Cycles HQ, while George and Kyle were riding their 2007 CVO Ultra, the bike decided it wanted a break! Actually a couple breaks, as parts started shearing off the rear sprocket! Luckily, this issue was noticed in time to get safely stopped. We all were just glad that everyone was okay, as it could have turned out alot worse.

Then the night’s big concert was Alice Cooper! As this was my first time seeing Alice in concert, I was WOWED!  You talk about a dramatic and theatrical show, it was a full throttle rock pumping show!  And Alice goes over the top with everything. Not content to just blow your ear drums; his show is full of props and fireworks. Things like having his head removed, a  giant Frankenstein, and featuring his pet boa constrictor are all part of the Alice spectacle!

After the show was over, we headed back to get some sleep from the long day.  Then, our Great Sturgis Vacation Winner, Tom Messer, had a malfunction with his Knucklehead. Of course, the gate was locked to easily get the bike up to the K and G Cycles display trailer. The only choice left was raw man-power! So, the four of us heaved and pushed his knucklehead up the hill.  I must say, after a long day of travel, tunes and drinking;  you find out how out of shape you are when trying to push a bike uphill!

Well that is it for today, heading out to see some of the campers and bikers to hand out some of our mechanic rags with our lovely K and G Cycles girls, it is a rough job, but someone has to do it.”

Ahhh Kevin! Sounds like Team K and G Cycles is really making sure Sturgis is Done Right this year! Keep the updates comin!!

K and G Cycles – Big Sturgis Update – Rockin’ The Chip!

Category : MC News, Sturgis 2011

Our K and G Cycles Team is still rockin’ the Chip! Check out this latest installment of the Great Sturgis Adventures, as narrated by our man with the plan, Kevin Plummer!

Kevin’s “normal” gig, at the helm of the starship K and G, involves all his skills. Everything from the backend of our massive data and online store engines, to vendor relations , to graphics and even customer service as well… So when it came time to make K and G Cycles a force at The Legendary Buffalo Chip, he stepped right up for duty! As said by Kevin, “Sometimes, I have to remind myself that I am actually working, and not just on vacation!”

Here he expands on his Sturgis experience so far. I first would like to point out that this is my first time visiting the Buffalo Chip. While I had seen it on TV, I have finally come to the conclusion, that although kids go to Ft. Lauderdale, or Mexico for Spring Break, the Sturgis Rally is like a Mega Summer Break for adults!  This place offers you everything you need, right here on the grounds of The Chip.

Let’s start with the basics: The amenities are not only fully plumbed, but also have attendants servicing them! The laundry, shower and restrooms are fit for your Queens!   Okay, moving on to entertainment: Once you are presented with your Buffalo Chip wrist band then let the party begin! The music is in the air here at The Chip, with concerts going on in many different areas. Everything from rock legends, to country, to comedy is on-stage at some point in the day here. In between bands, the  Midget Bowling, Zip Lining, and delicious food vendors, and many bar stops keep you smiling, full and happy!

The kickoff to the Buffalo Chip concert series was Edgar Winter. It seems as though these true legends of rock like Edgar, have names that the younger crowd doesn’t immediately recognize. However, as soon as the amps fire up and the guitars wail, he had 20,000 people kick’n it and hard rockin’ to the show.

With George being an ol’ pal and former sound man for Edgar Winter, we met up with him before the show for pictures and a VIP meet and greet. Then back out in the crowd we were electrified by the sounds, just like everyone else!  At the end of the show everyone was reving the engines to get Edgar to come out for one last song, and sure enough, his encore ROCKED!

Even though the concert ended at midnight, our fun didn’t stop!  Our winners of the Great Sturgis Vacation Tom Messer, Steve Hill and myself just headed over to one of the other bars that offered a little more, ummm… adult entertainment, yes you guessed it, pole dancing, I mean, what man wants to turn down drinking, and two lovely ladies dancing on a pole to a live band playing good ole’ classic rock!  Well the three of us hung out watched the show and had some beers, cigars and enjoyed the show.

The following morning was a little foggy, and took me some time to get around, but once the brain was clear we got ready and headed to Mount Rushmore for a day of fun and sight seeing.”

Check back soon for more episodes of the K and G Cycles’ Sturgis Adventures!! George and Kyle, plus Kevin and our GSVG winners Tom and Steve, have lots more fun to bring ya! Team K and G Cycles and Sturgis… kinduvabigdeal!!

K and G – BIG Sturgis Rally Update!

Category : MC News, Sturgis 2011

For all those bikers still at home this weekend, K and G Cycles wants to bring the Sturgis Rally action to you! We’ve got Team K and G set up and ready to rock at the Legendary Buffalo Chip. We want to let you know how things are going and give you a chance to enjoy some of the Sturgis sights and sounds for yourself!

Our hardworking owners, George and Kyle Marakas did the heavy driving in the big bus and K and G Cycles trailer early this week. They shot videos and pics of the scenery on their trek up to South Dakota. Once parked near the Amphitheatre at The Chip, they were in need of some more help to make the K and G Machine run smoothly!

Kevin Plummer, our Operations Manager and Mr. Do It All, arrived by plane Wednesday afternoon. After touching down and finding out that his bags were mis-routed during a connecting flight, he was sure the rocky start would soon be leading to FUN!

Kevin took his rental cage down to Buffalo Chip and met up with Kyle and George. He said, “I was following them back to the RV, and they take me on a sight-seeing tour of the huge grounds of the Buffalo Chip.  I had seen it several times on TV, but it doesn’t compare to experiencing it live.  With all of the roads marked with street signs, I felt it was going to take me some time to find my way around the Chip.  Later, the first test of my navigational skills came when I was asked to go to our trailer to retrieve something. With the many road choices available, I luckily did find my path through the expansive 500 acres that make up the Buffalo Chip complex to the trailer and back!”

The size of the Chip wasn’t the only thing that was striking about Wednesday afternoon on the grounds of the Chip. A thunderous South Dakota rain storm blasted through and soaked the setup processes still in the works. Kevin said, “Within minutes it is like the sky has opened up and is dumping buckets and buckets of rain.  George and I are trapped with the golf cart under an awning, as the sideways rain sheets are spraying us. We have to get under the end of a 50 foot awning, to keep from getting wet.  But George and I made the best of it, by talking, catching up, and even having few cut-up moments of fun.  After what seems like 4 hours, that was in reality only one, the rain stops as quickly as it came, and it is then you see all of the people come out to continue the build-up and setup of the large production of the Buffalo Chip.”

Kevin doesn’t like to brag, but he has spacious and dry accommodations in the upstairs loft of the K and G Cycles Trailer… Much better than a rain-soaked tent that is!!

Thursday morning was time for K and G Cycles PR with Kyle and Kevin serving to spread the word about what K and G has to offer. It seems they had a great response from the bikers at the campgrounds of the Chip. Kevin said, “Several riders were telling us stories of how they are glad to hear about K and G Cycles. Apparently,  they’re not happy with their current on-line retailer, and would like to give us a try. We’d like to help them out too! Then we hand out 100 or so free T-shirts to people. Everyone was sharing great riding and Sturgis stories, as they allowed us to tell them about what it is we do here at K and G Cycles. Overall, it was a wonderful response!”

Then as the setup at The Chip continued, Kevin says, “We were able to watch two of the staff people raise one of the new K and G Cycles banners in the amphitheater, it was neat to see a banner that I had designed on a screen come to life, and do what it was intended to do, and that is to tell everyone about K and G Cycles!”

Eventually, when it was time for a break from all this hard work, the subject of a frosty cold refreshment came up! So in the afternoon, a trip to downtown Sturgis was in order. Kevin related that, “Down in Sturgis, we were walking around see some of the sights. George and Kyle then wanted to take me ‘to a bar like I have never seen before’.  They were right!

The name of the bar was the “Dungeon Bar, Downstairs” and it doesn’t take long to see how the place got its name.  Very friendly staff, and was wild to see what could have been 10,000 one dollar bills plastered all over the walls, and the ceiling, to include womens panties, and bras that all had been dated and signed. This looks to begin a Very FUN Sturgis week for us all!  After walking around down town, and seeing some of the sights, we headed back to the camp grounds of The Chip to relax and enjoy the day.”

Hopefully you’re reading this on Friday, as tonight is the BIG NIGHT of presenting our winner of the Great Sturgis Vacation Giveaway, with his killer prize package! Tom Messer (our Grand Prize winner) Kyle and George will be taking the stage (hopefully in a Nicer Black Tee Shirt!) in front of the entire crowd of the Buffalo Chip. Just before George’s ol’ pal, Edgar Winter, fires up his show, they will be passing over the keys to Tom’s Victory bike loaner and all his awesome gear. Don’t forget the One Large in cash as well! Tom is one of the luckiest S-O-B’s up there, to be rockin’ Sturgis on the K and G dime! Congratulations Tom – and make all us bikers still at home proud!!!

See you again soon, here on our blog, for more K and G Adventures in Sturgis, straight from the Buffalo Chip Campground!
