Category : Fun Stuff, MC News

Hey Gang :) When the guys at K and G are excited about a new product on our “shelves”, you can bet it’s something outstanding! The name is catchy and the spokes-model is dazzling, on the WhamBAM Professional Detailing Products, but the results you get when using them, are Spectacular!!

Our Operations Manager, Kevin Plummer is really excited about how well the Wham Bam Detailer spray worked on his new Ultra Classic, and we want to let you know that when you’re ready to pull your bike out of the garage for spring, be sure to make your cleaning time, super effective, easy & long-term protected too!

WhamBAM Detail Systems and Products are designed for the non-professional to achieve superior professional results!

WhamBAM can be directly applied to the Dirty surface of your Bike or Car!
This is a two step process:
Step 1 Cleans the surface with ESP cleansing agents that emulsify and encapsulate the surface dirt, bugs, grease,
grime, bird droppings, tree sap, road tar, and lifts the debris for the surface.
Step 2 Protects the surface with a unique blend of polymers that provides a layer of protection that resists scratches, swirls, finger prints and provides a brilliant wet shine on the painted surfaces, chrome, & windshields.
In extreme conditions you can rinse your vehicle off before you apply WhamBAM because water will not diminish its
performance.

No Silicones, Teflon, or Petroleum Distillates. Biodegradable and Environmentally Friendly.

Kevin’s Ultra, Blue and Badd!

Category : Fun Stuff, MC News

Hey Gang! As you know, our hardworking owners Kyle and George Marakas are avid bike owners and riders themselves. More of our crew has bikes too, and we want to share their stories and thoughts on motorcycling in general too. Kevin Plummer is our Operations Manager and generally has a busy hand in all facets of the biz here at K and G. He recently picked up this sweet Ultra Classic, and gave us the story of how it came to be. Here is his story!

As a kid I had ridden many motorcycles, and three wheelers and had lots of fun with them all.  Even as a teen, I knew the freedom of two wheels, so before I was able to get my driver’s license, I purchased a Honda scooter to have transportation!

When I was 26 I purchased my first boat, and for the next 17 years the cost of owning the boat, wouldn’t provide the extra funds to also purchase a motorcycle.  Of course, we all know what boat stands for “Break Out Another Thousand”.  So, due to the investment within the boat, I just ignored my need to have a motorcycle.

In late 2010 I sold my boat, and had always planned on purchasing a bike, and for one reason or another things just didn’t work out.  Since I had worked for K and G Cycles since it’s beginning in 2006, and I had gone to a bunch of the motorcycle shows, it was just bound to happen!

The more I was around the motorcycles, the more the want and need became stronger, and almost like an inner animal instinct was saying “Buy a motorcycle!”.

Well, this year at Sturgis I had announced to George and Kyle that I had been saving some money to purchase a bike for the spring of 2012, and the ball was now rolling.

In December I signed up to participate in the Harley Davidson Riders Edge program, which I do in April of this year.  And as things got closer and the money started piling up in the bank account, I became more and more anxious to locate just the right machine for me.  After much searching, and comparing prices, and even though it isn’t spring yet, I was able to locate and secure a great deal on a 2008 Ultra Classic, with a 103” Screaming Eagle engine.

The person that owned the motorcycle prior to me, had done some upgrades, but had not added any “Bling” to the bike.  And I am sure like all motorcycle owners, I have already been working on items I want to add to the motorcycle to make it my own, and yet not look like all the other motorcycles in the lineup at the next rally.

That is one of the nice things about owning a motorcycle and being able to get the parts through K and G Cycles; we offer all the “Bling” one needs to make that motorcycle different, and yet cost effective to allow you to dress up your bike the way you want it to be. I know I will have fun picking out just the right parts, and build it as I go.

I would like to hear your suggestions and favorite additions if you also have an Ultra, and get some ideas on great bang-for-the-buck “Bling” you’ve invested in.

So, if you are also looking to dress-up your motorcycle, check out all the nice items we offer here at K and G Cycles. If you don’t find what you are looking for, give us a call. We carry even more items than we can show online at this time!  So, chances are, we have it, and its just not online yet!

New Victory Judge!

Category : Fun Stuff, MC News

Hey Gang! I’m pleased to bring you video and photos of this new model released from Victory today in New York City. This latest cruiser variation is steeped deep in the American muscle car genre.

While I am partial to the orange, and the mag wheels, I’ve seen that we’re getting a wide range of responses out on the digital biker frontier. Sure it’s not a game-changing design, but I do have to say that Victory hit my inner 8-year-old with a couple of the key features.

If Bo and Luke Duke could slap some southern stars on the bodywork and the 01 on the factory-molded number plate, I could just see them running from Rosco and Enos through the Hazzard County carwash, slingin dirt and leaving a cloud of dust in their wake!

I’ll post up the pics, and a decent video, and then the link to the Victory page with the stats. I hope your weekend is starting off great. If you’re lucky enough to get to ride in the next few days, Rock On!

Were you Born this Way?? New Harley Ads

Category : Fun Stuff, MC News

Born to be Wild? Check out these Harley Davidson ads that have been circulating the net lately. I love the kid who just keeps on sticking those tats till his sleeve is full. The baby cutting his own umbilical cord is borderline gross to me, whaddyou think??

The Harley-Davidson ads were created by advertising agency Momapropaganda in Brazil and it features a young boy as well as a newborn as they illustrate what the Harley spirit truly is. The accompanying copy “Harley spirit. You’re born with it” captures the essence of the images in simple yet wildly effective ways.

Watercolors by Willie G.

Category : MC News

Hey Gang! The Harley-Davidson Museum is always serving up interesting and insightful exhibits that bring a fuller understanding of the motorcycling world to all; riders and non-riders alike. Checking out this latest installment will surely give a greater insight into the mind of one of the greatest figures at the Motor Company, Willie G.

Harley-Davidson’s Chief Styling Officer and grandson of one of the original founders, gives the public a look into the more private side of his artistic endeavors. Willie G. Davidson exhibits idyllic rural scapes and still life watercolor paintings with strong luminosity and form that hint at time spent in the countryside during 48 years as the pacesetter in motorcycle design.

The Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee is hosting an art exhibit, featuring works by the man who leads the motorcycle design.

The pieces are Willie G. Davidson’s lesser-known works: his watercolor paintings.

The exhibit is called “Watercolors by Willie G.” and it will feature about 40 paintings from his collection, as well as sketches and snapshots. The paintings are mostly of landscapes he’s seen on the road with his motorcycle.

The grandson of one of Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s founders, Davidson joined the company’s styling department in 1963 and he’s now the chief styling officer.

The exhibit starts Friday and will run through April.

In the very personal event: Untold Stories: Wanderings, an evening with Willie G, you’ll get to spend the evening listening to Willie G. describe his experience and passion for art and design.

Willie G. Davidson is primarily known as a designer of iconic motorcycles. Like many artists, he expresses himself in more than one medium. This winter, visitors to the Harley-Davidson Museum will have the unique opportunity to see another expression of Willie G.’s boundless creativity, as we present Watercolors by Willie G. Spend the evening listening to Willie G. describe his experience and passion for art and design.

Buffalo Chip – 2012 Sturgis News!

Category : Fun Stuff, MC News

Hey Gang, the cool Sturgis news for 2012 just keeps coming. Here we have one of the coolest projects that any Tech College student in the country gets to be involved in! Once again, the Buffalo Chip is helping the students at WDT, get to fabricate an awesome machine, hands-on, for a great cause!

Sturgis, SD (January 10, 2012) Today, the Sturgis Buffalo Chip kicked off the 3rd annual Buffalo Chip Challenge™, a motorcycle build project designed to encourage Western Dakota Tech’s Welding, Manufacturing and Collision Repair students to get more involved with the motorcycle industry.  The Sturgis Buffalo Chip, along with leading industry businesses, including Black Hills Harley-Davidson, Terry Components and Hot Leathers want to give these students real-world experience while promoting economic development in the state of South Dakota.

The program is designed to challenge students to develop skills and knowledge they can use to enhance their employability upon graduation.  Students will learn the techniques used to fabricate, customize and finish a stock Road King graciously donated by Black Hills Harley-Davidson.  Also, world-class parts will be donated for the build by Corbin Seats, Dakota Digital, Inc., Dakota V-Twin, Dimension Custom Paint & Body, Hawg Halters, Inc., K & G Cycles, LLC, Klock Werks Kustom Cycles, Legend Air Suspension, RC Components, Inc. and Sinister Industries.

“The Sturgis Buffalo Chip is proud to champion programs that provide students with expanded opportunities in the motorcycle industry.  Our goal is to provide these students with the skills they need to become great technicians in the South Dakota workforce,” said Rod Woodruff, president of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip.

Students participating in the Buffalo Chip Challenge will not only have the advantage of state-of-the-art facilities, a new motorcycle and world-class parts for the build, they will have the dedicated support and experience of a motorcycle industry veteran, Keith Terry of Terry Components.  Terry has run a successful motorcycle aftermarket business for more than three decades and is part of a growing number of business owners who have moved their operations to western South Dakota.

“This dynamic partnership between business and technical education has been a huge success due to the collective efforts of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip and leading motorcycle industry businesses.  We know our students are up for the challenge of building another world-class custom bike alongside Keith Terry.  We look forward to the debut of the finished bike at our graduation ceremony in early May,” said Dr. Craig Bailey, WDT president.

The finished Buffalo Chip Challenge motorcycle will be auctioned to help sponsor the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s annual Legends Ride, which has given more than $200,000 to local Black Hills charities in just four years.

The public is invited to follow the build online at Facebook, where pictures and video content of the Buffalo Chip Challenge will be published.
