American Chopper Live – A 3 Way Battle!

Category : MC News

Just as bikers come in out of the cold and their cycles are feeling the chill of the winter garage set in, a new show promises to heat things up! American Chopper Live is now set to feature not only the Teutals, but the original star of tv-choppers Jesse James! Check out this video from Discovery.com of the promo and then let us know what you think of this newest effort to engage the public in the world of custom bikes.

Here is the press release also from Discovery.com

DISCOVERY CHANNEL FAN FAVORITE JESSE JAMES RETURNS TO BATTLE SENIOR AND JUNIOR IN THE ULTIMATE BIKE COMPETITION

Fasten your seatbelt. Paul Teutul Sr. and Paul Teutul Jr. are about to go head to head – or helmet to helmet – as they put their personal issues aside and get down to business this Dec. 5 and 6 at 9:00pm ET/PT.

But it’s not just the Teutuls who will be putting their skills and their ego on the line.  Jesse James, who made his television debut on the Discovery Channel, will return to the network for the first time since 2006 to take on the Teutuls.  James will be joining father and son in his attempt to prove that one doesn’t need the surname Teutul to win the title of master bike builder.  After all, James’ Discovery documentary, Motorcycle Mania, paved the road for the motorcycle revolution that hit television in the years that followed.

Jesse James and the Teutuls previously shared time on the network with their respective shows, but now these combustible characters will share the same stage for the first time.  The fierce competition and live results special will test the breaking points of the Teutuls family feud and Jesse James’ notoriously hot temper.

Coming on the heels of American Chopper’s return to Discovery Channel last year, the veteran show will take its success to new levels with its first LIVE event. In this two-night special, Chopper fans will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite bike after seeing the three finished products during our regularly scheduled American Chopper on Monday, Dec. 5, at 9pm ET/PT.  The following evening,Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 9:00pm ET/PT, American Chopper Live will air straight from the strip in downtown Las Vegas, NV.  What better place than Sin City to crown the winner of this unique bike building competition?

Will Senior’s years of experience give him the edge?  Will Junior’s younger outlook lead him to victory?  Or will wild card Jesse James wipe the floor with the two of them?

This aftershow clip, shows Paul Jr’s ideas on this upcoming feature, check it out!

SAMCRO – Wow! A Review from one of our own.

Category : Fun Stuff, MC News

Our resident SOA expert Kevin Plummer just had to throw out a review on this week’s show. For an fan of SOA or someone who wants the inside track on what’s going on. Here the scoop from K and G Cycles!

While I had not done any other SOA reviews this year except for the opening of the season, I felt last night’s show deserved some comments…

Sons of Anarchy Review: “Family Recipe”

It looks as though the death of John Teller many years ago, has come back to haunt Clay Marrow for the things he had done.  However at the end of the show I was very sad to see that we lost yet another SAMCRO member last night.  I felt that Piney was the voice of reason within the club, with his older wisdom, and what he knew of what John Teller wanted to do with the SAMCRO MC.  So, RIP, Piney.  We cannot say at the moment whether or not your death was in vain from what we know of the current storyline.

Piney’s death and Juice’s near-death were the two key developments on a packed episode that also showed us how Clay and the Sons have been able to survive in Charming for so many years. It goes far beyond intimidation.  It gives us an insight of all the politics at work here, as Clay proved in his shrewd speech, donation and support for Elliot, in the hopes to save Charming.
Which was the main light moment within the show, which helped ease the tension for a few moments.  Clay may know how to work the residents of Charming, but he and his crew have no idea how to respond to a bag of heads being dropped at their doorstep.  Jax feels the problems are getting so bad, that he had to admit as much when he bid goodbye to Tara, and the boys.

From Juice’s second chance to Piney’s final breath: Wow. Of those involved in the Clay/Tara/Piney threat triangle, this member of the Original 9 was the most likely to take a fatal bullet, but that didn’t make the closing scene any less powerful, especially considering Piney’s previous chat with Jax.

Piney is was a man who returned to an active life in the club for reasons as opposite as can be from the motivations now being driven by Clay at the head of its table.  Clay feels the need to want more money and to make a comfortable exit from SAMCRO, as he knows with his hands causing more and more problems.  If he can’t ride, he can’t lead…  I feel that Piney always wanted to keep the MC running in the direction that JT would have, respectability, brotherhood, inspiration from the son of his late best friend. Jax screamed at Piney that he didn’t want to talk about the past, but will he ever understand how the past holds the key to a safe future for SAMCRO? And also for Tara and his boys?

Will Piney’s death – even if the club believes it was committed by the blood-smearing LS – finally wake Jax up to the dangerous path he has agreed to go down? And even if it does, at this point, what can be done about it?

And then there’s the affect Clay’s actions will have on others.  We do not know whether or not Tara learn of this incident before departing for Portland, but imagine if she ever discovers the truth. Piney was murdered, after all, via a chain of events that started when she told him about Maureen’s letters.  While Opie fought with Piney a lot throughout the seasons, but no one could doubt their love for each other.  Gemma was aware of Piney’s threats toward her husband, and certainly aware of Clay’s murderous side.  How much inner club killing can one woman take?!?  And on a practical level, Bobby just lost one surefire vote against Clay for the Presidency.

And lastly, there’s also the occasional need for chili, though you’ll understand if I never go near any meal made by Chucky again.

Riding Two Up – Time to Talk or Not?? Motorcycle Communication Systems

Category : MC News

A recent question hit our Facebook Page about helmet-to-helmet communication systems for motorcycles, and we want to take a minute to discuss!

Several scenarios exist for wanting to talk to others while you’re out on your ride, or even better, on a long-distance road trip.

  • Rider to another Rider
  • Rider to Passenger
  • Rider to Cell Phone
  • Rider just wants some Tunes!!

How many times have you tried the wave and point technique to gesture to your buddy that it’s time for a fill-up, a snack or whizz-stop. We know what it’s like to have a small group of motorcycle riders all trying to stick together only to have  a small confusion set you back a few miles or many minutes on your journey. Helmet-to-Helmet communication can solve all that. Among riders, the general idea would be that useful decision making beats out the need for constant chatter, right!

Which leads us to the next example, Rider to Passenger… Well what can we say, it’s pretty sweet when your lady wants to take off across country straddled behind you and collecting bugs in her teeth. We know that talking is something she’s looking forward to on your time together. So on your next motorcycle trip, use the helmet-to-helmet system to keep her happy and still riding!

When an important call needs to come through, the slick bluetooth/cell phone synch is a great way to keep rolling and still take the call. Even if it is just used while stopped to make a quick call ahead to the hotel, at least you don’t have to get completely out of your gear to quickly find out the info you need, and you’re back on the road.

One important feature I love is the ability to have tunes on my Guzzi, which has no built-in stereo, heck there’s no fairing or windshield either! The 3.5mm jack that is a feature of most of these systems can hook up to your iPod or other music player device can keep you rockin’ for hours!

When you quantify all the benefits of these super cool new pieces of technology, it’s easy to see why many bikers are turning to using helmet-to-helmet motorcycle communications devices. Most all of them will attach and adjust to any full face or 3/4 open face helmet, so you don’t have to switch out your lid, just to add the communication system.

The cost?? Well think about this; just adding a stereo system alone to your bike can cost much more than these efficient and feature-packed devices. Plus you can make your lady smile, and we all know how much that is worth!!

K and G Cycles carries a fantastic version of a motorcycle helmet-to-helmet bluetooth capable system from Sena. Check out the video here, and get with us at our online superstore to find out more about these awesome devices!

New Harley Switchback brings Go and Show!

Category : MC News

We were all excited to see the versatile new Switchback model arrive in Harley Davidson’s new lineup. As the bike has now hit the streets, the riding reviews are reporting surprisingly stellar performance! Check out this new review from www.ridermagazine.com. We’ll provide a little excerpt here, and then a link to the whole in-depth review on their website.

Swooping down the southern side of the San Rafael Mountains on Highway 33 in California on my first ride on the Switchback, going faster and faster and leaning deeper and deeper into the freshly paved S curves…nothing was dragging. The steering felt neutral and responsive, like a bike with a much shorter wheelbase, and the firm, well-damped suspension soaked-up my late braking and quick corrections to my line like mud sucks up your boots. Granted, the saddlebags were empty save for a water bottle and hook spanner I brought along for the rear suspension preload, but if this were a CVO Convertible sparks would be flying from the floorboards, I’d be phoning in my steering inputs from the top of the apehanger handlebar and the back end wouldn’t get the message till the next corner.

Then it dawned on me. Those clever Motor Company guys—“Switchback” must be a double entendre, referring to both the type of road the bike likes as well as its quick-change feature. Harley-Davidson, it seems, has gone and built a Dyna sport tourer! So the Switchback is really three bikes in one. Or is that six? Where are Wrigley’s and Ron Popeil when you need ’em?

Quickly detachable locking saddlebags are about one-third smaller than those on larger Harley tourers and hold 15 pounds.

Anyway, before you go making comparisons to other sport tourers I, of course, mean a sport tourer in the Harley-Davidson sense.”

At K and G Cycles, we’re always up for hitting the open road. We love to hear that this new model from Harley performs as slick as it looks. To read the entire article, click this link. Harley Recall – Rear Brake Light Switch on Touring and Trike Models

Category : MC News

308,000 motorcycles made by Harley-Davidson Inc. are being recalled due to a problem with brake light switch failure.

Heat from the exhaust system on the affected bikes can damage the switch causing brake light failure, fluid leaks and also loss of rear brake function.

The models included in the recall are Touring, CVO Touring and Trikes of the model years 2009-2011.

Owners of these bikes will be notified by Harley, and a rear brake light switch kit will be installed by a Dealer free of charge.

Over 250,000 of the bikes are here in the U.S.

Harley became aware of the problem through a a report of a Trike model losing its rear brakes due to the brake light switch issue. That was in June of 2010. The company began investigating and then in July of 2010 inspected another bike that was involved in a crash in Louisiana which involved one person. The Louisiana crash has not been attributed to the switch issue.

In the filing documents, Harley said there have been no more reports of the problem since July of 2010.
