Classic rock icon, Stevie Nicks will be sharing the stage with Jeff Bridges and Friends on Thursday, August 11, 2011. A highly acclaimed artist, Nicks was instrumental in the success of the legendary Fleetwood Mac and has enjoyed an extensive solo career.  A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Grammy Hall of Fame, Nicks has written and performed such classic hits as “Landslide,” Rhiannon,” and “Edge of 17.” She has won multiple Grammy awards and has collaborated with a variety of artists, including Sheryl Crow, Tom Petty, Phil Collins, and Don Henley.

Nicks is sure to rev up the party for Chip goers. Embodying the characters of her songs, Nicks will take you on an arousing and enchanting escape into a world of white-winged doves, black widow spiders, and “sisters of the moon.” Her captivating stage presence and powerful voice will rock the house.

Nicks will be performing as a part of the American Thunder Music Festival at the Legendary Buffalo Chip to benefit the Bob Woodruff Foundation. Mesa, Arizona.  July 18th 2011 –  The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge announced today that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Academy Award nominee David Roma, of Amor Factory, to produce a feature length documentary on the August 2011 event and the riders taking part.  Hollywood-based David Roma is a widely acclaimed film and television producer, whose credits include the TV shows “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood”, “Hogan Knows Best”, and the “Miami Ink” franchise that is in its third spin-off.  Most recently, Roma produced the documentary film “Gasland” which was nominated for an academy award in 2011.  In 2010, his documentary “Off the Chain” became part of a ground-breaking Supreme Court First Amendment case.

Future plans for media cooperation between the Hoka Hey and David Roma include a television mini-series, and an interactive website to allow a worldwide internet audience to follow the progress of the riders.

The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge is the world’s premier motorcycle endurance challenge and is sponsored this year by Harley-Davidson.  In 2010 the event was won by motorbike enthusiast, Will Barclay, who captured the winner-take-all prize of $500,000, taking just over 8 days to complete the detailed navigational course from Florida to Alaska.   In a change from last year, the top 25 finishers will receive cash prizes and H.O.G. Club members may be eligible for additional prizes including a 2012 CVO motorcycle!!
It is intended that all riders (Challengers) will be interviewed as part of the film making process and many will appear in the final TV film produced.   In addition,  participants may volunteer to be part of the filming by carrying high-definition video cameras mounted onboard their motorcycles.  Roma also plans to use fast-moving mobile film units including helicopters to capture the action and spirit of this amazing event from start to finish.

The Hoka Hey Challenge is open to all riders of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, from the US and worldwide.  While registration is still open at this point, organizers of the 2011 Hoka Hey may need to limit the number of riders this year in order to facilitate the making of the film.  The 2011 Hoka Hey Challenge starts on August 5th, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona and ends in Nova Scotia, Canada, with the course covering all 48 contiguous US states.  Riders with less time available may take part in selected stages of the Challenge only.  The deadline for riders to register for this year’s event is August 4th, 2011.

Proceeds from the bike sale and donations garnered from the Legends Ride go to local charities, making this event a feel-good ride all the way around.

This year’s 11th Annual Motorcycle as Art exhibition, “Slant Artist-An Eccentric View on Motorcycles and Art” will focus on avant-garde artist, Jeff Decker. Assembled by world-famous motorcycle photographer Michael Lichter, the exhibition captures the personal expression, creativity and spirit that permeate the history and culture of motorcycling. In addition to Decker’s ten beautiful bronze sculptures, there will be a large and eclectic display of motorcycles and wall art culled from his personal collection, friends and other artists filling the 7,000 square foot gallery. Decker will be working on a new sculpture in the exhibit area.

Fans have likened the Sturgis Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show to the Grammy’s, as it comes around once a year and it recognizes the best of the best custom builders bringing their amazing bikes for show, hoping to win one of the prestigious titles.

There will be other spectacular bike shows you won’t want to miss. The Chip will be hosting the First Annual Buffalo Chip Badlands Victory Bike Show. The show will be held on August 10 from 4 to 8 pm. The winner will be awarded a trophy on the Wolfman Jack Stage during a set break between Lukas Nelson, Gregg Allman and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Lingerie for Life is an event in which lovely ladies wear 27 unique, one-of-a-kind bras to be auctioned with proceeds going to The American Cancer Society. The beautiful Budweiser Roadhouse bartenders will model the bras throughout the night and one will be auctioned at 8:15 p.m. and two more at 10 p.m. nightly. The bras will be delivered immediately after a bidder wins.

The Biker Belles festivities begin in the historic town of Deadwood at The Lodge of Deadwood followed by a beautiful, women’s-only ride to the Buffalo Chip for a reception on August 10. Attending will be renowned builder and land speed record holder Laura Klock, who will be selling raffle tickets for “SALT,” a special bike she built alongside the girls and young women of the Abbott House. The Limpnickie Lot will be set up at the West Gate. There are sure to be lot’s of burnouts and mayhem when these up and coming builders get together.
