Whether you are building a custom ride or simply want to add a new touch to your bike, you need to consider Dakota Digital gauges. K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) has a great selection of Dakota Digital gauges sure to fit your application.

Dakota Digital has been manufacturing the highest quality instrumentation and specialty electronics for custom cars, trucks, and motorcycles for over 25 years at the facility they call home, located in the heartland of the country, on the outskirts of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Home is where nearly all products are designed, developed and manufactured from start to finish…right here in the USA by folks who care about the products they sell and the thousands of customers that use them. With applications for most Harley-Davidson models, as well as plenty of custom choices too, it is no wonder Dakota Digital is leading the way in aftermarket instruments. Night time visibility on all Dakota Digital gauges will be excellent. Daytime visibility will depend on the application. Dakota Digital uses high contrast teal displays with non-glare lenses to provide the best daytime visibility possible. On bar mount systems and gauges mounted facing back toward the rider visibility is good at all times. Dash mount systems that face straight up into the sun will have lesser visibility when the sun is high and shining directly on the gauge. It can still be read but visibility under these conditions is slightly reduced. For best overall visibility, the company recommends either Blue or Teal back lighting. these are more than simple 1 function instruments too. You have the ability to display 7 gauge readings in the LCD Message Centers in the Speedometer and Tachometer (Speed, RPM, Volts, Fuel, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, and Air Temp), as well as Miles to Empty and performance readouts (0-60 speed and time as well as ¼ mile speed and time). Not convinced you need these just yet? What if I tell you they are plug and play, and you can have your current mileage programmed into them so you can keep track of your true miles.

When purchasing Dakota Digital products, you can rest assured you are not only getting the best products, but also the best service and support available. K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) only sells the best of the best, and that is why you can purchase Dakota Digital products here.

I have always wondered why the Big Guys in Milwaukee never finished the exhaust on the touring bikes. What I am referring to is the space between the heat shields that shows the actual head pipe. Having recently purchased an Electra Glide Classic, I am even more aware this situation and have found a cure that doesn’t entail replacing the entire exhaust system. Since I work here at K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) I have access to all the parts I can handle, and then some, so it was pretty easy to find the solution to my concern. Kuryakyn makes what they call the Bridge The Gap Heat Shield.

The Bridge The Gap Heat Shield is designed to fill the space between the stock exhaust heat shields on the Touring Family bikes from H-D made from 1993 – 2007. This piece is an exact fit that covers the ugly exposed section of head pipe on stock exhaust set ups. With the popularity of Slip-Ons these days (which my bike happens to have) it is no wonder somebody designed a cover to hide that section of exhaust, and let that company be Kuryakyn. Long known for their incredible chroming process and near OEM fit, the team of Engineers responsible for this heat shield knocked it out of the park. For less than the price of a couple of cold ones at the Ball Park, you can give your motorcycle a finished look and hide that unsightly portion of head pipe that Harley failed to cover.

The Bridge The Gap Heat Shield, a long overdue accessory piece needed for the American V-twin Touring Market, is available at K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com). Covering up that unsightly exhaust head pipe with a perfect fit, chrome slathered filler piece achieves the look that should have come on the bike. Install this custom fit heat shield and be the example everyone follows.

The most recognized name in aftermarket motorcycle suspension, Progressive, hopes their version of R.A.P. will catch on with Softtail Owners like Hair Metal and Rock Ballads. For a lot of suspension guys, Softtails have been always been quite a challenge. Having the shocks mounted under the frame makes even common adjustments pretty difficult. That is until now! K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) got as giddy as a school girl when we found out the Engineering Wizards over at Progressive come up with a clever solution. Calling it RAP (or Remote Adjustable Preload) this new design combines their legendary high performance shocks with a remote preload adjuster.

Part #’s 29099 and 29093 (depending on the year of your ride) is Progressive Suspensions 422 Series Shock that unlike the others in its lineup, has the ability to be easily adjusted via a remote that rides by one of the passenger pegs. The RAP (or Remote Adjustable Preload) system combines high performance shocks with a remote preload adjuster. This allows for easy tuning of the shocks to account for changes in loads or the addition of a passenger. Packing a lot of gear for a big ride? Give the knob a few turns and the bike is set. Riding solo? A few rotations the other direction softens things up. The 422 RAP Series shocks are based on Progressive Suspensions award winning gas charged monotube damper and are combined with heavy duty progressive rate springs for that excellent ride quality and bottoming control you have come to know and expect. Threaded rod ends also provide several inches of height adjustment so you can completely customize the ride.

Although I was a bit skeptical when Progressive called to say they were entering the R.A.P. World, I can without a doubt say this is the first R.A.P. that I am excited about. K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) is happy to make these easily adjustable, high quality shocks from Progressive Suspension available to all you frustrated Softtail Owners. Contact us today and start the season off on the right foot, and improve your ride with the new Progressive 422 R.A.P. Series shocks.

K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) believes just like those good ‘ole potato chips, you can’t stop at one accessory. Today we are are going to focus on the controls, more specifically the control levers, switch housings, and the switches themselves.

So you changed the hand grips on your ride, and they look great, but there is something missing… you need to finish the job. There is nothing more disappointing than seeing a sweet bike that only has part of the controls customized. It reminds me of a Corvette that has ground effects installed but the were left unpainted. Switch housings would be the next logical choice when it comes to completing the transformation. For the most part the stock black housings do not compliment new grips very well unless they are black. With that being said, many people upgrade to a Chrome Switch Housing to accent the new grips. A fairly easy install, Switch Housing upgrades go a long way to give you a finished, custom look to your controls that will have you wondering,”Why didn’t I do this before?”.

You aren’t done just yet! This next step is one of personal preference – Do I leave the switches black, or do I install chrome switches? My personal feel is to leave them black as it adds a nice bit of contrast to the chrome. It also is easier to read the switches at a glance, in the event you have an Alzheimer’s moment. If you are changing out your switch housings and want to make the move to chrome, there is no better time to do so. A word of warning, the switch replacement can be a tough job, so you should allow ample time to complete this upgrade. Chrome Switches add a sleek look to your handlebar mounted controls, and will leave the others envious.

Rounding out your controlled accessory swap is the levers. The levers will be the cherry on top, but keep in mind there are about as many lever choices as there are small town diners on the list of “Must See” places. Again, the colors most readily available are Black and Chrome, however if you are wanting to go total custom, you should be able to take any lever to a local powder coater and have any color or finish applied. Levers can set the tone for the bike since often the controls are one of the first areas you notice on the bike or don’t notice. Levers can also increase your riding comfort by. There are levers available in reduced pull style, more ergonomically correct designs, as well as what one might refer to as “Self Defense” levers.

All in all, changing a mere 25% your controls give you an unfinished, hap hazard look when you could be a shining star instead. For ease of transformation, an accessory install should be plotted out, and full advantage taken of your downtime. With new switch housings, levers and switches from K and G Cycles (www,kandgcycles.com) upgrading your controls has never been easier.

With “Healthy” this, and “Diet” that, nobody wants to be told they have a nice wide rear end. That is unless you are talking to a motorcycle rider that just finished the installation of a wide tire kit on their motorcycle. You are now free to ask, “Does she handle better with that much meat out back?”, “With it that wide, is it hard to layover in the curves?”, or “Doesn’t she look so much better with some meat on her bones? It was way too skinny.” At K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) we can arrange it so you hear these and many more comments that sound degrading but are not.

Did your bike come with a stereo? No? Do you want one? Take a look at what Cycle Sounds has to offer. These add-on sound systems are intended to be used on H-D motorcycles that didn’t have a factory option for a sound system. The motorcycle enthusiasts we are at K and G Cycles, (www.kandgcycles.com) we know that there is something special about riding with your favorite tunes rockin’ as you run through the corners and pull it on in the straights.

By adding a Cycle Sounds Series 2 Ultra Speaker System to your bike, you get 150 watts of speaker handling capability (75 Watts per speaker). These Series 2 speaker drivers deliver excellent response and improved dynamic range, and are housed in an attractive, low-profile, bullet design housing. The biggest decision you will have to make is whether you want the Chrome version or Matte Black version. Set up is a breeze, after minimally invasive wiring, all you need to do is connect connect the standard 3.5mm jack to your favorite music player and take your tunes along for the ride. The speaker housing comes with a simple one point mounting solution for use with external handlebar clamps.

We know you have concerns so we approached Cycles Sounds and asked some questions we felt would be on your mind.

How well will I be able to hear these at highway speeds? Series 2 motorcycle speaker system: (150 watt speaker handling) is great for mounting the speakers under the handlebar and can be heard while riding at 40-70 mph.

What kind of electrical draw will this be on my charging system? This system requires between 1.5 – 2 amps. A super small load for such big sound.

Since this system will be be in the elements, how will it hold up? The amplifier is completely waterproof ensuring you can mount it wherever you like. And our bullet speakers have undergone strict testing for water resistance and passed.

Is there a warranty with this system? Cycle Sounds offers a 1 yr warranty on all of our speaker systems.

Is there any particular MP3 player I should or shouldn’t use? Generally any mp3 player or other device with a standard headphone jack (3.5mm) output will work with our sound systems. However, some mp3 players that use an actual disk drive for media storage may not be suitable for use with our kits depending on the vibration of the motorcycle the system it is being installed on. In particular, the “Classic Family” of iPod’s use disc media for storage including (full-size) 1/2/3/4/5/6th Generation.

For an added piece of mind, all Cycle Sounds products are designed and engineered in the U.S.A. for all-weather stability and vibration resistance to ensure maximum performance in real world conditions. So you see, there is no reason you cannot take your favorite tunes on the road with you. Contact K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) today and begin enjoying your rides more with some great sounding tunes, that you have installed in no time.

Is your Tour Pak beginning to look a lot like the “junk drawer” in the kitchen? Do you wish there was a way you could keep it all organized so when you needed something it was right there? Well K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) knows your pain all too well, and that is why we want to introduce you to a product that lets you use wasted space to get the Tour Oak under control.

It is time you kept important or fragile items at your fingertips with the Tour Pak Lid Organizer Bag from Kuryakyn. Using a variety of padded and see through mesh compartments this organizer offers protection and easy accessibility for frequently used items. The best part is it installs in a spot that, under normal circumstances is unused space. Measuring an impressive 13″ x 20″, you will surprised just how much this organizer bag holds. Who says you can’t take it with you? Employing quick disconnect hook and loop fasteners and built in handles, this unit is easily portable. However those of you wanting to keep it on the bike, there is a more permanent solution – if you have a luggage rack on your Tour Pak, you can simply secure the lid organizer with the 4 bolts in addition to the hook and loop fasteners and you have a tough, sturdy mount.

Not only are you gaining a nice amount of storage space, for the two wheeled narcicist, this lid organizer comes with a 5″ x 7″ mirror so when you reach your destination, you can primp and preen yourself. Tucked between the outer shell and the storage pouches, you will find the mirror, and notice it easily pulls out and hangs in place so you don’t have to fumble with it.

As we all know, finding usable storage on a motorcycle is like finding Nessie, but with this Tour Pak lid organizer it couldn’t be easier to add usable storage. Whether you want to leave it on the bike or take it with you, versatile mounting options make this bag one of a kind. Head over to K and G Cycles (www.kandgcycles.com) and order yourself this amazing bag that will keep your bike organized and give everything a place.
